NEW ORLEANS – The Wisconsin-Oshkosh overtook Tufts University for the top spot in the women’s USTFCCCA Division III Coaches Power Rankings this week after finishing second at the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Invitational. The Titans received 207.96 points in the power rankings which were released this afternoon by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. UW-Oshkosh scored 123 points at last week’s meet, finishing only two points behind meet host Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Staying at No. 2 this week is Illinois Wesleyan. Illinois Wesleyan hosted the Bob Keck Invite over the weekend and took first place over nine other teams that included sixth-ranked Chicago, seventh-ranked Augustana (Ill.) and ninth-ranked Monmouth (Ill.). Previous No. 1 Tufts University falls two spots to No. 3 this week. Following Tufts is No. 4 Wisconsin-La Crosse and No. 5 North Central. Four teams entered the top ten this week beginning with top ranked UW-Oshkosh, No. 4 UW-La Crosse, No. 8 St. Thomas (Minn.), No. 9 Monmouth and No. 10 Wisconsin-Whitewater. The 2008 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held March 14-15, 2008 at the ONU Sports Center. Ohio Northern University is the host for the championships.
